Pyramids of Giza Timings, Duration & Visitor Info

How long do you need to tour the Pyramids of Giza?

If you have 2 hours

Take a horse carriage or camel ride around the Pyramids, stop at the Panoramic Point for photos, and visit the Sphinx and Queen’s Pyramids up close.

If you have 4 hours

Walk to all three main Pyramids and the Sphinx, explore one interior, visit the Solar Boat Museum, and take time for photos at key viewpoints.

If you have 6 hours

Join a guided tour of the Pyramids, Sphinx, Queen’s Pyramids, Solar Boat Museum, and Mortuary Temple. Add a camel safari and time at the Panoramic Point.

If you have an entire day

Enjoy a guided tour covering the Pyramids, Sphinx, and Queen’s Pyramids, plus stops at Panoramic Point, smaller temples, the Worker’s Village, and the Solar Boat Museum. End with a camel safari or desert walk.

Make the most of your time at the Pyramids of Giza

  • Get there by opening time (7am  in summer, 8am in winter) to beat the heat and crowds. Morning light is also best for photos.
  • Between 11am and 3pm, the plateau can get extremely hot—especially in summer. Plan to be indoors or in shaded areas during this window.
  • If you’ve purchased tickets to go inside the pyramids, plan those visits first—interior access usually closes 1 hour before the complex.
  • Fridays and weekends tend to be busier. For a more relaxed experience, visit Monday to Thursday.
  • Fridays have a noon prayer, and the site can be slightly busier or slower to navigate around that time.
  • Delays due to queues, camel rides, or photo stops are common—don’t plan your next activity too close to your estimated exit.
